Dragonfly Books is excited to join with local native plant expert Peter van der Linden to host an introduction to plant identification based on van der Linden’s books Forest and Shade Trees of Iowa and Shrubs and Vines of Iowa. Everyone is invited to join this free event on Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm.
Van der Linden will have specimens to examine and share some tricks of the trade when it comes to identifying Iowa’s native species. From novice to expert, everyone is sure to learn something new in this free mini-workshop. The evening will include a talk from van der Linden, a light reception, and the opportunity to talk individually with van der Linden and get your book signed.
A resident of Decorah, Iowa, Peter J. van der Linden has worked in arboretums and botanical gardens in Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan. Most recently van der Linden was executive director of the University of Iowa’s Lakeside Lab where he was responsible for overseeing 147 acres of diverse wetlands, prairies, lakes and forests located near Spirit Lake in northwest Iowa.
