Mark Tiedemann Book Signing: THE BELLE OF NAGASAKI
Dragonfly Books invites everyone for a book signing with Luther College Alumni Mark Tiedemann and his novel The Belle of Nagasaki. Tiedemann will be chatting one-on-one with guests and signing copies of his book on Saturday, September 8 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm at Dragonfly Books.
A 1980 Luther graduate and Nottingham participant, Mark Tiedemann has been in Japan for over half his life. He earned his Master’s Degree in English Literature from Washington State University. Tiedemann is a Professor of English at the Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies.
In The Belle of Nagasaki, Tiedemann draws on his many experiences living and working in Nagasaki. It’s 1980s Japan and three unlikely people are brought together on a hot summer’s evening -- the son of a proud U.S. WWII veteran, a girl struggling with secrets, and a misfit member of a violent gang. They can’t possibly know what they may do for each other, nor what they will eventually do to each other. Infused with an ear for the language and an eye for the ironic, The Belle of Nagasaki is a story of compassion for those who may not seem to deserve it.
Everyone is invited to this free book signing at Dragonfly Books. If you find that you can't make it to the book signing but would still like to purchase one of Tiedemann’s books, just give Dragonfly Books a call at 563-382-4275. One of our staff will be glad to reserve a book and have it autographed for you.
