Benjamin Percy: THE DARK NET

Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - 7:00pm

Date: Wednesday, August 30
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Dragonfly Books
Cost: Free!

Dragonfly Books will host Minnesota author Benjamin Percy with his latest novel The Dark Net. Back for his third visit to Decorah, Percy is known and loved for his thrilling storytelling and engaging readings. Everyone is invited to Dragonfly Books as Percy shares his stories, talks about The Dark Net and signs copies of his books on Wednesday, August 30 at 7:00 pm.

In The Dark Net (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt 2017), Percy uses his vivid prose and extravagant imagination to weave a tale of cyber hacking and black magic.

Set in present-day Portland, The Dark Net is a cracked-mirror version of the digital nightmare we already live in, a timely and wildly imaginative techno-thriller about the evil that lurks in real and virtual spaces, and the power of a united few to fight back.

An IndieNext Pick from the American Booksellers Association, The Dark Net is sure to keep readers up late into the night.

In addition to The Dark Net, Benjamin Percy is the author of the novels The Wilding (Graywolf Press 2010), Red Moon (Grand Central 2013), and The Dead Lands (Grand Central 2015). Percy’s short story collections are Refresh, Refresh (Graywolf Press 2007) and The Language of Elk (Grand Central 2012).

He broke into comics in 2014 with a two-issue Batman story arc for Detective Comics. He now writes the Green Arrow and Teen Titans series at DC Comics and James Bond at Dynamite Entertainment.

His craft book, Thrill Me: Essays on Fiction, was published by Graywolf Press in 2016 and is now widely taught in creative writing classrooms.

In The Language of Elk, men and creatures stagger in a no man's land between wildness and domesticity, jealous, cracked, burning to be acknowledged. Like the flaming projectiles his protagonists often launch into the sky, these stories crackle with energy and violence and a furious beauty. Benjamin Percy is a force. -- Anthony Doerr
