Katherine Hannigan Workshop: DIRT+WATER=MUD
Dragonfly Books and the Decorah Public Library are excited to sponsor a free workshop with bestselling childrens author of Dirt+Water=Mud, Katherine Hannigan, and Barbara Ehlers, Assistant Professor of Education at Upper Iowa University. Hannigan and Ehlers will share techniques and tools for using Dirt+Water=Mud with students of all ages on Thursday, October 6th at 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Decorah Public Library.
Katherine Hannigan is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Ida B…And Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster and (Possibly) Save the World, and True (…Sort Of), which was a California Young Reader Award nominee. She has also written and illustrated Emmaline and the Bunny (a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of the Year), Gwendolyn Grace (an Atlanta Parent Best Book of 2015), and the new Dirt+Water=Mud. She has undergraduate degrees in education and mathematics, and painting; her graduate degree is in studio art. She has worked as an assistant professor of art and design at Iowa State University, and as the education coordinator for a Head Start program in New York. She grew up in western New York, and lives in Iowa.
Barbara Ehlers is Assistant Professor of Education at Upper Iowa University. Among other courses, she teaches the Science Education classes there. She uses Dirt+Water=Mud in Environmental Issues Instruction workshop on Soils, which is a graduate class that takes place over a couple of weekends.
Teachers and parents are invited to learn more about Dirt+Water=Mud and explore new tools for teaching at this free workshop on Thursday, October 6th at 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Decorah Public Library.
