In A Creature of Moonlight, Rebecca combines absorbing prose with stunning imagination in this one-of-a-kind coming of age story. Marni has never been like the other girls in the kingdom. Haunted by mystical creatures and drawn to the forbidden woods, Marni knows she must make a choice. But will any choice be the right one? Rebecca’s blend of magic and realism will hook readers from beginning to end.

A Creature of Moonlight (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt 2014) is Rebecca Hahn’s first novel. It is a Kirkus Reviews and Publisher’s Weekly Starred Review. Released to much critical acclaim, Rebecca’s young adult novel debut is sure to become a fantasy classic. Join us for two fantastic events at the Elkader Public Library and Dragonfly Books to celebrate Rebecca’s new book.

Rebecca Hahn grew up in St. Olaf, Iowa and attended school in Elkader. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, MN with a B.A. in English. Rebecca wrote A Creature of Moonlight while living in New York City and working as an editorial assistant. She now lives in Minneapolis.

As the only heir to the throne, Marni should have been surrounded by wealth and privilege, not living in exile—but now the time has come when she must choose between claiming her birthright as princess of a realm whose king wants her dead, and life with the father she has never known: a wild dragon who is sending his magical woods to capture her.
