Jerry Johnson with the latest Old Coots book!

Everyone is invited to join Dragonfly Books with local Decorah author Jerry Johnson as he shares his new book in the Old Coots series, A Limit of Coot: A Curmudgeon’s Final Observations. A call to renew our appreciation and respect for the natural world, A Limit of Coot expresses the joy and awe of days spent in the wild places. Jerry Johnson will shares his stories and talk about his Old Coot series on Monday, April 3 at 7:00 pm at Dragonfly Books.

Beginning with Crazy Old Coot, Jerry Johnson has given readers glimpses of life and hunting in the north country. Johnson continues his humorous and heart-breaking observations in this last installment of the Old Coot series. Including bird hunting, deer hunting, fishing, and dog training, the north country’s resident curmudgeon captures the passion, spirit, and sage advice in pursuit of outdoor sport and spiritual connection with the natural world.

Jerry Johnson is a curmudgeon, bird hunter, dog trainer, and indifferent wing shot. In addition to A Limit of Coot and the Old Coot series, Johnson is the author the historical fiction novel Ivory and Gold and the short story collection Hunting Birds. A retired journalist and college public relations director, Johnson lives with his wife Patti in a 130-year-old log house on a small farm they manage for wildlife habitat.

Jerry Johnson will share his stories and talk about A Limit of Coot on Monday, April 3rd at 7:00 pm. If you find that you can't make it to the event but would still like to purchase one of Johnson’s books, just give Dragonfly Books a call at 563-382-4275. An African adventure like no other. At the start of the 20th century the British East Africa Protectorate is a beautiful but savage country. A veneer of civilization overlays a prehistoric land where a man stays alive "by dint of his courage, daring, cunning, and ferocity," and can make a fortune smuggling ivory, gold and slaves from the jungles of the Congo to the black markets in Zanzibar.
